The number of grade A passes attained by students at A level varies enormously between schools and different areas of the UK. Figures in the table below exclude general studies:

• Enter: the average number of A levels that students sat in 2008 was 3.14 Nationally. 

• Attain: the average number of A grades attained at A level / entrant was 1.62 Nationally. 

• %: 51.58% of A level grades were grade A Nationally.
